Roger Hudson began playing Rock and Blues guitar by ear at age 12. He began teaching guitar at 16. His desire to be a composer later led him into classical training and ultimately earning a Master of Music degree in music theory from Georgia State University. Roger has had several compositions and collections published by Mel Bay. The United Kingdom's magazine Classical Guitar described his music as "sparkling and wonderful". Fingerstyle Magazine regularly offers Roger's successful Fingerstyle Basics column which provides playable new music and tips on guitar technique.
Hudson has to his credit three releases of original guitar music: Guitarchitecture (1994) was his debut collection featuring Fox and the Hounds, Gardens Waltz and others as well as arrangements such as Paul Desmond's Take Five. Guitar Peace (2004) is a collection of tranquil compositions. Many of the guitar solos on Guitar Peace are lullabies and some were written with guitar students in mind.
With 2009 came the much anticipated release of Delta. Delta is a collection of guitar solos as well as duets and collaborations. Delta is also Roger's first CD introducing his steel string guitar playing as well as a foray into oud (Arabic lute) and Mediterranean influences.
