"AMANECER" para Violín y Guitarra
This composition is inspired by the sunrise at the L'Alfàs del Pi Lighthouse, located at the summit of the Serra Gelada (Sierra Helada) Natural Park. It stands beside magnificent vertical cliffs that overlook the Mediterranean Sea, offering breathtaking views of the bay, the Puig Campana, the Sierra de Bernia, and the Peñón de Ifach. Next to the lighthouse is the Torre Bombarda, a historic watchtower from the 17th century.
The lighthouse, with its powerful beam, serves as a guiding light for boats navigating the surrounding waters. In this piece for violin and guitar, I aim to capture the essence of the sunrise at this unique location. Undoubtedly, the L'Alfàs del Pi Lighthouse is part of one of the most beautiful coastal routes in Alicante, located in the Valencian Community, Spain. Known locally as the Albir Lighthouse, it is a beacon for sailors approaching the coastline in the darkness of night, nestled within the picturesque and enigmatic town of L'Alfàs del Pi.
Juan Francisco Tortosa Esteve was born in the whitewashed village of Enguera, nestled in the Valencian mountain range. However, he chose L'Alfàs del Pi as his home. He trained at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia and furthered his studies with the American pianist Joshua Edelman and the Dutch composer Jef Penders, who regarded him as his favorite student. Tortosa also studied composition with Franco Donatoni in Rome and Jacques Charpentier in Paris, receiving heartfelt support from the great Joaquín Rodrigo.
