Bossa Nova arranged for 3 harps with optional bass by Christopher Norton
Originally from Christopher Norton’s Latin Duets, this piece has an extrovert main theme over a distinctive pulsating rhythm. The piece starts in A minor and resolves into a sunny A major. The middle section has faster figuration and travels further harmonically before a restatement and a triumphant, syncopated ending.
Arranged for 3 harps with optional bass by John Glenesk Mortimer
John Glenesk Mortimer was born in Edinburgh in 1951 and won a composition scholarship to the RCM in London. His activity as a viola player took him to Switzerland, where he stayed for 23 years, playing, teaching theory and conducting. There he met the Swiss wind music publisher Marc Reift, and devoted many years to composing and arranging for wind band and brass ensembles. In 1997 he returned to Scotland and now works as a freelance composer, arranger and music editor.
