Hot Blues in the Storm - Guitar Quartet
When contacted by the Clark County School District, Nevada, about commissioning a piece for the 2024 Honor Guitar Ensemble concert, time was short to write a piece. I had to decide as quickly as possible what theme might inspire me and get to work writing the music. At that particular time in Summer of 2024, multiple intense and potentially deadly hurricanes we’re starting to make their way across central Florida where I live. As I sat in my studio beginning to write, my windows were being bombarded by the uniquely tropical sideways rain and wind that lets you know, this is no ordinary storm!
That said, listen in this music for elements of the hurricanes, with their pounding wind and rain, loud creaking limbs, cracking of falling trees, and the mounting fear one experiences while rethinking whether or not they should have evacuated!
Thus was born, “Hot Blues in the Storm”
