Under the title Terpsichore or rather - La Terpsichore de societé - the famous Florentine guitarist Francesco Molino wanted to create a collection of Contredanse françaises, anglaises, Walses, Sauteuses et Monferines, compiled for guitar players not yet expert, at least at the technical level. It is therefore significant that the author (indulging in an attempt to please without betraying at least in the text and obvious didactic purpose) has resisted the temptation to make of it real, easy studies (at least going by the rather neo classic title) and presents himself more as a composer than as a teacher.
If we consider, however, the didactic production of the composers of our time or the production of the 19th century, we are led to judge this Terpsichore a small masterpiece, to be used in the early stages of emergence with the aim of developing the taste and instrumental capacity of the forming guitarist.
Our revision (concluded with knowledge of the pre-existing German edition in which, however, the indications were limited to the essential) apart from proposing the easiest fingering possible - compatibility with its efficacy - has enriched this work with signs of dynamics and expression, which constitute the more obvious didactic involvement.
So it is an efficient guide to pleasant playing and sure progress in the ability of expression.
