The 20 Lettres by Roland Dyens are a stellar collection of compositions for solo guitar that were written as tributes and homages to various composers and/or nationalistic styles of music. In 2021, I composed Lettre á Roland Dyens in the same spirit. In doing so, I set out to capture the essence of his style of writing, as if he were guiding my note choices phrase by phrase. This is my heartfelt homage to one of the greatest musicians ever associated with the guitar.
It is dedicated to Elena Papandreou, the wonderful Greek guitarist who is one of the greatest interpreters of all things Dyens. Enjoy.
