New York Impromptus for String Trio by Carlos Pavan

  • I. Tango
  • II. Interlude
  • III. Danza

These Impromptus are based on my Argentine Piazzolla/Ginastera influences, with New York jazz harmonies and also inspired by the renowned Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki's String Trio (1991).

Born in Argentina and living in New York since 2000 composer Carlos Pavan combines tango/folklore rhythms with jazz & classical concepts. He studied with maestros Jorge Morel, Dave Smey (Brooklyn Conservatory) and Pablo Ziegler (A. Piazzolla's pianist). Carlos has recorded three albums with his works including string quartet and chamber ensemble. "Mr. Pavan worships at the altar of originality while remaining true to his Argentinean roots" (The World Music Report). "a more daring harmonic language" Fanfare Magazine. "he handles the contemporary language well, with interesting articulations and clean delivery" American Record Guide.
