OCTATONAL DANCE • low brass trio concertante for Euphonium, Horn in F, and Tuba
This concert etude is mostly based on Octatonal harmony (Diminished scale), including Argentine folk rhythms and New York jazz influences.
The extended/contemporary techniques: flutter tongue, tap bell, suck no pitch, foot stomp, etc, should be considered optional if the player is not comfortable with it.

Born in Argentina and living in New York since 2000 composer Carlos Pavan combines tango/folklore rhythms with jazz & classical concepts. He studied with maestros Jorge Morel, Dave Smey (Brooklyn Conservatory) and Pablo Ziegler (A. Piazzolla's pianist). Carlos has recorded three albums with his works including string quartet and chamber ensemble.
