Romance. Spanish Ballad. Romanza. Call it what you wish but the iconic, anonymous – classic finger style piece, guitarists have played hundreds of times, is indeed, beautiful. With the request “do you play that… I can’t think of the name of it…” the familiar tune is at the ready.
Over the years I developed a unique version reminiscent of Astor Piazzolla’s chromatic lines, engaging with but cutting through the simpler harmonies. The added feature in this compositional technique creates a mysterious underlying tone with a haunting quality, in Romanza Chromatica.
