The Tortoise and the Hare By Rex WillisIncludes Score and Parts
The Tortoise and The Hare for Narrator and String Quartet was commissioned in 2009 by M.O.B., Musicians Out of the Box, an award winning string quartet based in Sarasota, Florida. The inspiration for the original music by Rex Willis is an adaptation of Aesop's famous tale. With three contrasting and overlapping themes that represent the Tortoise, the Hare and the actions in the story, the aural and emotional driving force of the tale is delineated as the Narrator reads the story.
Willis' The Tortoise and the Hare is featured in a marvelous recording on M.O.B.'s CD, "Music Tales, Vol. 2". Audiences of all ages have been thrilled by M.O.B.'s concerts featuring this score which is both languid and frenetic.
